Solution

Understanding the concept: Only one kind of particle, with a stable or unchanging structure, can form pure substances. These substances are further broken down into elements and compounds.

  • Elements are substances that can't be broken down anymore. Example iron element.
  • Even utilizing physical or chemical means, an element cannot be converted into a new element.
  • Metals, nonmetals, and metalloids are commonly used.
  • Compounds, on the other hand, are pure substances generated when two or more different elements are chemically mixed with a fixed ratio of their atoms. Example H2O
  • Compounds, on the other hand, can be broken down into separate elements using chemical methods.
  • Examples Steel, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Water, Copper, and many more.

Characteristics of pure substances:-The pure substances have the following characteristics and properties:

  • They have only one type of atom or molecule and are often homogeneous. Example water molecule and Sodium element.
  • They have a consistent composition all the way through.
  • These components have a fixed melting and boiling point.
  • The production of predictable products is always the result of pure substances participating in chemical processes.
