There are number of elements which react with oxygen to produce gaseous oxides. These gaseous oxides are present in air along with different other gases and so they are called atmospheric oxides.

e.g. Oxides of nitrogen i.e. NO, NO2, N2O5

Oxides of sulphur i.e. SO2 &SO3

Oxides of carbon i. CO, CO2
