Atoms- The smallest unit of matter that exhibits the same physical and chemical properties as the element is called an atom.

Important points about atoms:

1. The majority of them are highly reactive and are found as compounds or molecules with atoms of other elements or the same element.
2. Very few are found in the native state. for example - Gold, silver, and platinum.
3. All atoms of an element are identical.
