Define capacitor reactance. Write its S.I. units

Open in App
Solution

Capacitive reactance is defined as the total opposition to the current due to a capacitor , and is given by ,
Xc=1/ωC=1/2πfC ,
where ω= angular frequency of circuit and f= frequency of circuit ,
for DC , f=0 , so Xc= , capacitor doesn't allow the DC to pass through it .
Its S.I. unit is ohm( Ω ).
