Composting is a process in which any organic matter is decomposed with the help of certain micro-organisms. Generally, organic things such as leaves, rotten food, flesh etc are converted into simpler molecules or gases such as methane with the help of the process of composting. Vermicompost, on the other hand, is a similar process, but differs in the process of decomposition. In vermicompost, the organic matter is decomposed with the help of various species of worms, such as red wigglers, white worms and other earthworms.The end product of decomposed matter by earthworm is called as vermicast.
