Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Condensation Reactions may be defined as a reaction between two or more molecules of the same or different compounds resulting in the formation of new carbon to carbon bonds with or without the elimination of simple molecules like water, alcohol, metallic halides, etc.

The two types of condensation reactions are

  1. Intramolecular Condensation – When two functional groups of the same molecule react to eliminate a simple molecule the reaction is known as Intramolecular condensation.
  2. Intermolecular Condensation – The condensation reaction between two molecules of the same or different compounds is known as intermolecular condensation.

Regards.
