Mitosis:

  1. Mitosis is the type of cell division that occurs in somatic cells.
  2. There are two processes in mitosis, karyokinesis and cytokinesis.

Cytokinesis:

  1. In cytokinesis, the cytoplasm divides by a process called cleavage.
  2. The type of cytokinesis in plant cells is known as ‘centrifugal’.
  3. In this type, a cell plate formation begins at the centre of the cytoplasm and proceeds towards the cell wall.
