The cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance present within a cell and is located between the cell membrane and the nucleus. It occupies most of the space inside a cell.
The cytoplasm consists of a fluid ground substance known as cytosol in which the cell organelles are present.
The primary component of the cytosol is water. About 70% of the cell is made up of water and is primarily present in the cytosol that is responsible for dissolving components.
