Solution

Dear Student,
Degree of freedom is the number of independent variables in which the dynamical properties of a system can change. For ex: Degree of freedom of a monoatomic gas is 3: A monoatomic gas molecule is free to move along the three independent cartesian co-ordinates (x, y, z), degree of freedom of a simple pendulum or a standing wave is 2: Two dynamical properties change independently, kinetic energy and potential energy
