1. The splitting of white light into its component colors on passing through a dispersive medium, i.e., the glass prism is called dispersion of light.

2. The colored rays obtained in the spectrum of white light produced by a glass prism can be recombined into white light again if we place a second identical prism in an inverted position with respect to the first prism.
