  1. Distillation is the process of heating a liquid to produce vapor and then cooling the vapor to recover the liquid.
  2. The distillation method can be used to separate solid-liquid mixture or to separate two miscible liquids.
  3. The liquid components of the mixture boil without decomposition and have at least or more than 25°c the difference in their boiling points.

Example:

A mixture of salt and water can be separated into salt and water by the process of distillation.
