Evolution is change in the inheritable traits of biological populations over successive generations. They provide gradual change in phenotype with respect to shape and size of organism which also indicates adaptation with respect to changing environmental conditions.
Fossils are the remains or impressions of prehistoric plants or animals embedded in rock and preserved in petrified form. Fossils provide evidence that, present animals and plants have originated from previously existing ones through the process of continuous evolution.
e.g., Fossils of Archaeopteryx show characteristics of both reptiles and birds.
