Flower:

    • Sepals: Sepals are the outermost whorl of a flower or calyx of tiny green-leaf like structures.
    • Petals: Petals are the second whorl or corolla that are arranged next to the calyx.
    • Stamens: Stamens are the male reproductive part of a flower consisting of two main parts— hair-like filaments and a broad sac-like anther at its tip.

Functions:

  1. The chief function of a flower is to generate fruits and seeds for reproduction. This function is achieved by the means of pollination.
  2. Pollination is the process by which pollen grains are transferred from anther(male part) to the stigma(female part) of a flower.
