Define force and mention its unit.

Open in App
Solution

  1. The push or pull of an object is considered a force. Push and pull come from the objects interacting with one another.
  2. When a body is acted upon by a force, the time rate of change of its momentum equals the force.
    F=dPdtWhereFisforcePismomentumP=mVmismass,Visvelocity
  3. The quantity of force is expressed as the product of mass (m) and acceleration (a).

F=ma
Where, m = mass, a = acceleration

3. As mass is measured in kg and acceleration in m/s2, therefore SI unit of force is

kg×m/s2=newton

Thus the SI unit of force is the Newton (N).
