  1. Definition: The process of development of the new plant from the embryo present inside the seed is called seed germination.

  3. The plumule grows upward forming the shoot while the radicle grows downward forming the primary root.
  4. The cotyledons act as the stored food for the embryo and develop into the first leaf of the shoot.
  5. Germination occurs in the presence of conditions related to water, air and a specific temperature.
