  1. The process of embryonic development in the uterus is termed as Gestation period.
  2. Gestation period is the time period from the day of last menstruation in women before conceiving until the baby is born which is about 280 days or 40 weeks in human females.
  3. If counted from the day of fertilization of gametes to until the baby is born it is about 266 days or 38 weeks.
  4. It is the process of the contraction of the uterus at regular intervals that helps in the delivery of the baby at the end of pregnancy.
  5. The signals that the fully developed fetus sends through the placenta for ejection is called foetal ejection reflex.
  6. These signals induce muscular contractions.
