Growth is defined as increase in size. In living organisms the growth is internal and occurs due to addition and differentiation of the cells.
Plant regulators or phytohormones are chemicals released in very small quantities, that the plants produce naturally.These hormones regulate growth, flowering, senescence and other activities of the plant.
Auxins, Gibberellins, Cytokinins,Ethylene are examples of plant regulators
Auxins responsible for the lengthwise elongation of the shoot and the root, they are present at the apex of the shoot and the root and act upon apical meristems.
