The emission of particles by a black hole.Pairs of virtual particles in the intense gravitationalfield around a black hole may live long enough for oneto move outward when the other is pulled into theblack hole, making it appear that the black hole is emitting radiation.

Hawking radiation is the electromagnetic radiation given out by the just outer layer of the event horizon. Everything in this universe that has a temperature must emit electromagnetic radiation now as because black hole has a finite temperature, it must also radiate thermal radiation known as black body radiation. This radiation comes from the event horizon due to some quantum mechanical effects and it reduces the potential energy of the black hole. This leads to an evaporation of the black hole over a great span of time.
