Hybridization:

Crossing between genetically different organisms to produce desired characteristics in the offspring is known as hybridization.

It is of two types:

  1. Interbreeding between individuals of different species within the same genus is called interspecific hybridization.
  2. Interbreeding between individuals from the same species but belonging to different populations, breeds, or cultivars is called intraspecific hybridization.
