Solution
(i) In radial vascular bundles, xylem and phloem occur alternately on different radii e.g., in roots.
(ii) Rigor mortis is the medical term that is used to describe the hardening of body muscles after death. It's the result of the body's loss of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is a substance that gives energy to the muscles. (iii) The pressure exerted on the liquid contents of the fully turgid cortex cells of the root, forcing some of it into the xylem vessels and up through the stem. It is a vital phenomenon and depends upon the activity of the living cells of root.
