It is a Natural disaster or man induced disaster that involves the break up and downhill flow of rock,mud,water,and anything caught in path.There can be many causes like:
Deforestation which loosens the soil.
The overgrazing which removes the plant cover making soil prone to slides,
Cloudbursts.
Unplanned mining.
Earthquakes etc.
