Lymphatic system

It is the network of lymphatic nodes and vessels that collectively work to transport the lymphatic fluid back into the circulatory system.

  • Lymph: Lymph is a white-to-colorless fluid composed of white blood cells.
  • Lymph nodes: These are minute structures found at specific points of the lymphatic vessels and work as a filter for harmful substances.
  • Lymph vessel: It is a tube-like structure that mainly carries lymph and WBCs (white blood cells).

Lymph nodes contain reticular tissue, within which lymphocytes, plasma cells, and macrophages are present.

Location of lymph nodes

Lymph nodes are primarily found in the armpit, neck, jaw, and groin region.
