The process of magnetizing a material is called magnetization.
Electric method:
A magnet made by passing an electric current is called an electromagnet.
When the current is stopped they stop behaving like a magnet.
They are temporary magnets made by this method.
If materials like steel and special alloys are placed in a coil and a very high current is passed through the coil, then electromagnets can be made permanent magnets.
