kwashiorkor:

Kwashiorkor is a disease that results from PEM.

Symptoms of Kwashiorkor :

  1. Protruding belly
  2. Dark and scaly skin, brownish hair
  3. Stunted growth
  4. Swollen legs due to accumulation of water
  5. Loss of appetite
  6. Anemia
  7. Mental retardation
  8. Reduced resistance to diseases
