Solution

  1. Definition: The concentration of a solution by mass percent may be defined as the number of parts by mass of solute per 100part by mass of solution.
  2. %StrengthbyMass=MassofsoluteMassofsolution×100
  3. For example, if a 10 percent salt solution is prepared by dissolving 10.0g salt in 90.0g water, then the total mass of the solution will be,
  • Massofsolution=Massofthesolute+Massofthesolvent=10+90=100g
  • ConcentrationofSolution(byMass)=10100×100=10%

As a result, the concentration of the solution of common salt is 10%by mass.
