The elements which are having metallic property are called metallic elements. They are electropositive in nature. That is they give up their electrons.
CHARACTERISTICS OF METALS:
  • They are generally hard & therefore their densities are generally very high.
  • They possess metallic lusture
  • They are good conductors of heat and electricity.
  • They can be beaten into thin sheets. This property of metals is called as malleability.
  • They can be drawn into thin wires. This property of metals is known as ductility.
  • They generally produce ringing sound hence they are said to be sonorous.
  • All metals are found in solid state except mercury (liquid) e.g., sodium, potassium, iron, copper, silver, gold platinum etc.,
