Metals: The elements which can gain positive charge due to their ability to form positive ions by losing or donating electrons are known as metals.

  1. Metals are electropositive elements due to their ability to form positive ions by losing electrons.
  2. They generally have 1 to 3 electrons in their valence shell which they can loose easily.
  3. Metals include sodium(Na),potassium(K),magnesium(Mg),calcium(Ca),barium(Ba),aluminum(Al),copper(Cu),gold(Au),silver(Ag),platinum(Pt),etc.
  4. The most abundant metal in the earth’s crust is aluminium(Al), which constitutes about 8% of the earth’s crust.
  5. The second most abundant metal in the earth’s crust is Iron(Fe), which constitutes about 5% of the earth’s crust.
  6. The other metals found in the earth’s crust in the descending order arecalcium(Ca),sodium(Na),potassium(K)andmagnesium(Mg),etc..
