1. In order to avoid confusion in measurement and to maintain uniformity, a set of units were accepted by scientist all over the world as a standard unit of measurement.
2. The three systems that were developed include the following:

1. CGS (centimetre-gram-second) system
2. FPS (foot-pound-second) system
3. MKS (metre-kilogram-second) system

MKS (metre-kilogram-second) system:

1. It is a metric system of measurement which uses metre, kilogram and second as base unit.
