Myometrium:

  1. The uterus or the womb is a hollow, pear-shaped muscular organ situated in the pubic cavity between the urinary bladder.
  2. The uterus has a thick, highly vascular wall composed of three tissues- outer peritoneal, middle smooth myometrium, and inner endometrium.
  3. Myometrium consists of two layers of smooth muscle with a vascular zone in between.
  4. The myometrium is active throughout a woman's life, not just during labor and delivery.
