Solution

Nucleons:

  1. An atom consists of two parts i.e. nucleus and shells.
  2. The nucleus is present at the center of the atom and it contains protons and neutrons.
  3. The shells are circular paths around the nucleus in which electrons revolve.
  4. The protons and neutrons are together termed as nucleons as they are present in the nucleus.
  5. Thus, the sub-atomic particles present in the nucleus of an atom are known as nucleons.

Example:

  1. Consider a Hydrogen (H) atom containing 1 proton, 0 neutrons and 1 electrons.
  2. Thus, the number of nucleons in Hydrogen atom are 1.
