pH scale was introduced by Danish biochemist Sorensen in 1909. pH means the potential of hydrogen. It measures the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 and according to the pH values, the unknown solutions are recognized.

  1. The value of pH for acids varies from 0 to 7.
  2. The value of pH for bases varies from 7 to 14.
  3. The pH value of a neutral substance is 7.
