Question

define order of reaction. how does order of reaction differ from molecularity for a complex reaction ?

Solution

Dear Student
The sum of exponents to which the concentration terms in rate law equation are raised to express the observed rate of reaction is called as order of reaction.
Molecularity is the number of atoms, ions ,molecules that must collide with one another simultaneously.Molecularity can be calculated by simply adding molecules of slowest step.It is always a whole number. It is applicable only to elementary reactions while order is applicable to elementary as well as complex reactions.
