Define parasitism

  1. The interaction between an organism (called parasite) which is unable to prepare its own food and have to depend upon other organism (called host) for obtaining food and shelter is known as parasitism.
  2. In such kind of interaction one species (parasite) gains while the other (host) is harmed but not killed by the association.

Example: Ticks, tapeworms (animal parasite); Cuscuta (plant parasite).
