Solution

Parturition:

  1. The process of contracting the uterus at regular intervals aids in the baby's delivery at the conclusion of pregnancy.
  2. Fetal ejection reflex refers to the signals sent by a fully formed fetus through the placenta in preparation for ejection.
  3. It occurs after the nine months of pregnancy
  4. Several hormones help in the parturition process, such as estrogen, oxytocin, and relaxin.

Hormones that are involved in parturition:

  1. Estrogen is secreted by the adrenal glands, and it helps in inducing uterine contractions.
  2. Oxytocin helps in uterine contractions and also in milk production during the period of breastfeeding.
  3. Fetal ejection reflex developed due to uterine contractions helps trigger the release of oxytocin from the posterior pituitary of the mother.
  4. Relaxin helps in relaxing the pelvic ligaments and widens the uterus. It is secreted into the circulation by the corpus luteum in the ovary.
  5. Prostaglandin facilitates cervix widening and is secreted by the prostate gland.
