Perigynous flowers are the flowers in which the gynoecium stays in the center and other parts of the flower are located at the periphery of the thalamus almost at the same level.
In this flower, the sepals, petals and stamens are fused at the base to form a cup-shaped structure called a hypanthium or floral tube.
This hypanthium is inserted beneath the ovary.
The ovary is said to be half inferior as the parts like petals, sepals, and stamens are attached to the rim of the thalamus, which surrounds but not fused to the ovary wall.
