â—A political party is a group of people who come together to contest elections and hold power in the government. They agree on some policies and programmes for the society with a view to promote the collective good. â— â–¡The characteristics of a political party are as follows: (a) Every Political party has a certain structure. The group of people in a political party are being organised in such a proper way that every member should be aware of his role and responsibility in the party. (b) A political party consist of those members who have the same objective and thinking and these members of political parties agree on those policies and programmes which are beneficial for the society. (c) Political parties reflect fundamental political divisions in society. Parties are about a part of the society and thus involve partnership.
