Define power. A lamp consumes 600 J of electrical energy in 30 seconds. Calculate its power.

Open in App
Solution

  1. Power may be defined as the rate of doing work or the rate of energy transferred.
  2. Power=Energysupplied(E)time(t)

Step 1: Given the electrical energy consumed by the electrical lamp (E)= 600 J
Time for which lamp is operated (t)=30 seconds
Let P is the electrical power consumed by the bulb.
Substituting the value of E and t we get-
P=600J30sorP=20watt

Hence the power of the electrical lamp is 20 watt.
