The public health system comprises a set of state-owned health care facilities funded and controlled by the government of India. Some of these are controlled by agencies of the central government while some are controlled by the governments of the states of India. Health facilities are provided to people either free of cost or at low cost .This is to benefit the poor who can seek quality treatment in government aided hospitals. Public health care services takes preventive action against spread of harmful diseases such as malaria, jaundice etc. This system is available in both rural and urban areas. The main aim is to provide basic health facilities to each and every person in order to produce healthy citizens for the nation.
