Solution

A homogeneous mixture is a gaseous, liquid, or solid mixture whose constituent proportions are uniform throughout the sample. It is composed in a consistent manner throughout. Thus, there is just one phase of substance visible in a homogeneous mixture.

Explanation of a solution :

  • A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances in relative proportions that can be constantly adjusted up to the solubility limit in chemistry. For example, Sugar in water uniformly mixes with water and forms a solution in which sugar is a solute and water acts as a solvent.
  • Gases and solids, on the other hand, can also come up with solutions.
  • For example, the air is a homogeneous gaseous mixture of oxygen and nitrogen with trace amounts of several other gases whereas Brass is a solid homogeneous mixture of Copper and Zinc.
