Open in App
Solution

  1. Static electricity can be defined as the imbalance of electric charges on the surface of a metal or an object.
  2. Static electricity can be produced by rubbing two objects against each other. The rubbing of objects creates negative charges called electrons.
  3. The electric field is developed due to the stationary charges.
  4. It's called "static" because the charges remain in one area rather than moving or "flowing" to another area.

Examples:

  1. Static Charge build-up in the clouds.
  2. Lightning and lightning strike.
