Sublimation: The process of conversion of a substance from the solid state into the gaseous state on heating directly without converting into a liquid state.

  • Example: Camphor, Naphthalene.

Sublimate: The solid obtained after the condensation of the vapours once they have cooled is called sublimate.

  • The solid camphor obtained from the cooling of camphor vapours is called as sublimate in the above example.
