Sucrose:- Sucrose is a disaccharide consisting of two monosaccharides. In common language, it is called table sugar or cane sugar.

  1. Sucrose naturally occurs in most plants and is obtained commercially, especially from sugarcane or sugar beets.
  2. The two monosaccharides are glucose and fructose.
  3. Sucrose is a non-reducing sugar.
  4. The chemical formula of sugar is C12H22O11.
  5. The linkage involved in the two monosaccharides are glycosidic linkage. α form of glucose and β form of fructose forms the sugar.
