Question

Define surface tension of liquid?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Surface tension of liquid can be defined as the tension at the surface of liquid that arise due to attraction force between the liquid particles on the surface and the particles which are presents at the bulk of the liquid.
Due to the intermolecular force of attraction between particles, surface particles are attracted towards bulk and also towards other particles of surface. That creates a tension at the surface called as surface tension.
