Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the blood against the walls of the arteries it flows through. It is measured in mm of Hg. Blood pressure is measured in two parts; systolic pressure and diastolic pressure.
Systolic pressure: It can be defined as the pressure exerted by blood on arterial walls during the contraction of the left ventricle. The standard value of systolic pressure is 120 mm of Hg.
Diastolic pressure: It can be defined as the pressure exerted by blood on arterial walls during the relaxation of the heart. The standard value of diastolic pressure is 80 mm of Hg.
