Solution

Part-1 Electrochemical series

  1. This series is also known as the Activity series.
  2. This series is the arrangement of the elements according to their ionizing ability.
  3. The elements that ionize most readily are placed at the top and those which are not easily ionized are placed at the bottom.

Part-2 Types of Electrochemical series

The electrochemical series is categorized into cation series and anion series.

  1. (a) Electropositive series of Cation - This is a series in which metals are arranged according to their tendency to lose electrons from their valence shell to form ions.
  2. (b) Electronegative series of Anions- This is a series in which non-metals are arranged according to their tendency to gain electrons to form ions.
