Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

1.Homoatomic molecules: These are the molecules which are made up of atoms of the same element. Most of the elementary gases consist of homoatomic molecules. Example: O2

2. Heteroatomic Molecules: The heteroatomic molecules are made up of atoms of different elements. They are also classified as diatomic, triatomic, or polyatomic molecules depending upon the number of atoms present. Example: NO2

3. Polyatomic ion: Polyatomic ion is a group of covalently bonded atoms that carries a net charge due to the fact that the total number of electrons in the molecule is not equal to the total number of protons in the molecule. Example: NH4+
