  1. Definition: Alimentary canal is the tubular structure starting from the mouth and ending at the anus through which digestion and absorption of food takes place.
  2. Alimentary canal is 9 meters long where digestion takes place due to the action of digestive enzymes.
  3. The parts of the alimentary canal include mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and anus.
  4. Digestion starts from the mouth which continues till the large intestine and undigested materials are excreted out through the anus.
