Dear student,
1.Nurtition is the process by which an organism obtains the food from its environment and utilises it for various life processes like growth, replacement of tissues, energy etc.
2.Transportation is a life process where substances synthesised or absorbed in one part of the body are carried to other parts of the body . Transportation is important in plants and animals as it leads to movement of nutrients, water, minerals, gases, etc. in their bodies which is essential for their survival and growth. It also transports waste material which is to be excreted out from the body.
3.Respiration is the process of taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide. The process involves the consumption of oxygen and liberation of carbon dioxide and water.
The oxygen inhaled is used to burn/oxidize/break down the food (glucose). This reaction produces energy required for all activities. Water and carbon dioxide are by-products of this reaction. This process occurs inside the mitochondria and is called cellular respiration. It is exactly opposite to the process of photosynthesis
4.Excretion: Toxic wastes, which are produced in the body during the functioning of cells are harmful to the body and hence are out thrown from body through the excretion.
