(a) Photosynthesis - It is the process by which green plants prepare food by using carbon dioxide and water in presence of sunlight. This process occurs in the chloroplast that contains a green pigment called chlorophyll.

(b) Respiration- It is the process by which food gets oxidised in the living cells to form carbon dioxide and water besides releasing a large amount of energy.
