Recessive allele

  1. The allele that fails to express itself in presence of its contrasting dominant allele is called as recessive allele.
  2. Recessive alleles can be expressed only in homozygous conditions of any generation.
  3. For instance, alleles of blue eyes are recessive, hence for one to have blue eyes, two copies of the blue eye allele must be present.
